How To Naturally Whiten Your Teeth

Brushing your teeth is enough to keep your teeth white but it will do little to whiten your teeth. If you always drink coffee, black tea, soda, red wine etc. there is a good chance your teeth are not as white as they could be. If you are a smoker, then  obviously your teeth will also be stained.

Having great teeth is extremely important in today’s culture. If you have yellowed or discolored teeth, you will definitely not feel confident when smiling. It doesn’t matter if it is for a picture or just in front of your friends, showing a smile that exposes your teeth will just be embarrassing for you. Before you spend big money at the dentist why not try teeth whitening at home?

Chemical and laser whitening is the most effective at whitening your teeth but some chemicals eat away at the enamel and overuse can damage your teeth however you don’t have to use chemicals to whiten your teeth.

Good thing there are now home remedies that people can use to whiten the teeth naturally. By regularly brushing the teeth and using organic products such as coconut oil, lemon, orange peels, apple cider vinegar, strawberries, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide, you can easily and naturally whiten your teeth at home.

#1. Brush Your Teeth Immediately After Eating

It is highly recommended for people to brush the teeth after drinking or eating. It may not be easy to do that but sticking to this rule should help you to prevent staining and it will eventually whiten your teeth to a small degree. It will require persistence and dedication for you to be able to stick to this. Sometimes, it may even prove to be difficult depending on where you are at the time.

Not all food will stain the teeth. However, the staining of the teeth is pretty much sure to happen if you drink anything with caffeine in it or if you smoke. If that is the case, it is imperative that you have your teeth cleaned once every three months. You may also try the other natural remedies available for you.

 #2. Orange Or Lemon Peels

Many people claim that orange peels and lemon peels will whiten your teeth. However, they have very high acidic content and that can potentially wear away the teeth enamel eventually. Rinsing your mouth thoroughly afterwards is a precaution against that. After that, you can use a mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash. Swish it around in your mouth and then leave it in for one full minute to whiten the teeth.

You can also mix lemon juice with baking soda and use that as a natural teeth whitening method, demonstration below;

#3.Oil Pulling Using Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is getting popular nowadays as a natural teeth whitener. You can use it to make a homemade toothpaste or you can use coconut oil for ‘oil pulling’.

This method is where you use a spoonful of coconut oil in the same manner as you would a mouthwash. Swish the oil between the teeth for five to twenty minutes.  This will also improve your gum health and will prevent cavities.

 #4. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar works as an effective gum cleaner. It is also effective in removing stubborn stains from the teeth. In order to achieve the desired results from the use of apple cider vinegar though, you must be consistent in using it.

Also, the result won’t be evident until at least one month after consistent use. To some people, they believe that the results of using apple cider vinegar is just similar to when they get their teeth cleaned professionally.

#5.Baking Soda And Peroxide

If you do not want to visit a dentist then baking soda and peroxide mix are an effective alternative for naturally whitening the teeth. Simply  mix a small amount of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in order to make a paste. After that, you need to brush the teeth as usual. Don’t forget to brush the back teeth as well.

With the hydrogen peroxide, you have an effective anti-bacterial agent that  works as a total mouth and gum cleaner too.

On the other hand, the baking soda is quite similar to sandpaper in that it has a gritty texture. You should make sure to add in enough hydrogen peroxide in the mixture to soften it up a bit.

If you don’t, the baking soda will scrub the enamel right off the teeth. Do take note that the enamel won’t grow back once it comes off. The paste you make from the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide mixture must not be gritty. In fact, it has to be a runny texture and do not do this too often.

 #6. Strawberries

Using strawberries as a natural teeth whitener is a method that even the famous actress Catherine Zeta Jones has used. Even Tyra Banks tried the use of this particular natural teeth whitener on her show, though the effects may not be that evident since she already has perfectly white teeth.

Although this method has not been thoroughly confirmed so I would try the methods mentioned above before I would try this.

To try out the said natural teeth whitening remedy, you just have to mash up about four to five strawberries. Once you finish doing so, rub the strawberry pulp all over your teeth…… Good Luck.

Summary

Remember that your teeth are  one of the first things that people notice. Not only will it show off your confidence, it can also show how healthy you are. If you want to give off a good first impression, then you have to make sure that your teeth are well-brushed. Otherwise, it will make other people think that you don’t really take care of yourself. You should always aim to have a beautiful smile with sparkling pearly whites.
