Ironmaster Adjustable Dumbbells Review

Ironmaster Adjustable Dumbbells Review

These dumbbells are exceptionally beneficial for someone who is just starting out in the home gym.   Being a beginner is never easy but one soon becomes accustomed to the rigors of the gym and incorporating dumbbells into your exercise program.   Especially this type of dumbbell;  they are equipped with a wide range of weight choice making them more flexible than any other  adjustable dumbbell options. Dumbbells of this caliber are very simple to use, highly versatile and very durable.

Ironmaster sets the tone with dumbbells that will not rattle during a workout routine; similar sets have known to rattle in use.   While there is a little time involved in adjusting the weight, the process is quite simple, these make of dumbbells are considered 100% secure and safe to use as soon as the weights have been adjusted and set.

The Handles – These weigh 5 pounds each when they are empty plus there are locking screws weighing 2.5 lbs each, so even with no weights the dumbbell now weighs in excess of 10 pounds, which for most people would not be a problem but for someone who is maybe doing weight training as recovery after accident may find this a bit too heavy.

Weighted Plates – these are made from cast iron and are incredibly thin and come in increments of 2.5 pounds and are easy to change.

The Stand – On your purchase of these dumbbells, thankfully the stand does come with the dumbbells; very compact in size as well.   At first glance, the stand looks like a metal cabinet with a flat top where the dumbbells can be set down.  They can be set down lengthways on the stand when there is a lot of weight on them due to their length or they could be set down sideways when a few weight plates are on them.  Standing just over two feet tall, this stand facilitates racking and un-racking the dumbbells easily as you do not have to squat down and change them on the ground.

Changing the weights – As with every new gadget or piece of equipment that you have purchased, there will, of course, be different tricks to enable you to operate this beneficially.  The weights are no different, so when changing the weights put them on top of the stand with the notch in the handle facing upwards making the pulling of the locking screws out, easier to manage and then also, of course, to get them tightened quickly after the weight has been added.

Pros:

Unlike most other dumbbells currently available on the market, these have a natural look and feel to them; looking in appearance like fixed dumbbells and also feeling solid like a fixed dumbbell set.

But with the small variance of the square shaped weights.  Once weights have been locked in they stay put and there is no rattling or loosening of dumbbells and can be used safely without the fear of plates flying off during a rigorous workout.

You can load one end of the dumbbell heavier than the other as each end can be loaded independently of the other, this allows for more increments of different weight levels. (you can increase one end by 2.5 rather than both which will increase weight by 5 pounds).

The warranty is lifetime and there is a money- back guarantee should you decide to return it, The lifetime manufacturer’s warranty includes repairs and parts replacement, but it would be best if you study the full terms and conditions of this.

Cons:

To change weights is not as fast as the bowflex adjustable dumbbells that require a turn of a knob, the ironmaster set requires you to remove a screw and adjust weights that way.

With adjustable dumbbells you will want to handle them with care as should you accidently drop these too far from the ground, you might run the risk of damaging your dumbbells, with that being said this set is much more sturdy then other adjustable dumbbells.  Should you want to start using bigger weight ranges above 75 pounds you would need to purchase an extra kit, but don’t let this put you off as this product is one of the best pieces of weight training that you could possibly get for your home gym.

Typically to adjust the weight takes between 15 seconds to 90 seconds depending on the amount of weight you are adding or removing, adjusting one or both dumbbells.  Needing separate storage of the individual weights plates, you will need to organize your storage space, otherwise  it will take time to sort through all the weights to find the one you are looking for. While not really a major issue it will cause just a temporary inconvenience as you might become frustrated in hunting for the correct weight that you need to use also with supersets you will want to minimize rest in between.

Customer reviews have been very positive; this is one of the best adjustable dumbbells in the market today.
